SEBI GRADE A (RESEARCH STREAM) 

SEBI Grade A is an examination conducted by the Security Exchange Board of India (SEBI) for the position of Assistant Manager (Grade A).  Security Exchange Board of India (SEBI) is the regulatory body of the security market in India. The SEBI Grade A officers are recruited for various posts including research. 

 

The Research Stream of SEBI Grade A exam can be undertaken by the aspirants who have Master’s degree in Economics, Statistics, Commerce, Business (or Finance),  or Econometrics from a recognized University or Institution. A Research Stream SEBI Grade A officer is responsible for conducting research and analysis on aspects of the securities market such as market trend, market structure, investor behaviour etc. The Research Stream SEBI Grade A officer also supports the regulatory and development functions of the SEBI by providing inputs and feedback on the implementation of proposals and policy for the securities market.  

SEBI GRADE A RESEARCH STREAM ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Qualification: Master’s degree in Economics, Statistics, Commerce, Business (or Finance),  or Econometrics from a recognized University or Institution. 

Age: An applicant must be below the age of 31 years. 

SEBI GRADE A RESEARCH STREAM EXAM PATTERN

The SEBI Grade A Research Stream Exam Pattern comprises three phases. The first phase is screening round aspiring candidates selected there will be called for the second phase. The final phase is the interview round. A detailed analysis of the exam pattern is given below.

Paper 1 (All Streams, English Descriptive Test For Drafting Skills)  + Paper 2 (Research Stream)

The SEBI GRADE B Research Stream exam syllabus is divided for phase 01 and phase 02. Please note that paper one is common for all the streams and paper two syllabus for research stream in both the phases is the same.

SEBI GRADE A Research Stream Syllabus Paper 2 

 

Paper 2 for both the phases of the SEBI Grade A Research Stream is the same. It consists of multiple choice questions. A detailed syllabus is given below.

Economics: Demand and Supply, Market Structures, National Income, Determination of output and employment, Investment Function, Multiplier and Accelerator, Demand and Supply for Money , IS – LM, Inflation and Phillips Curve, Business Cycles, Inflation, Monetary and Fiscal Policy, Non-banking Financial Institutions. 

Public Economics: Public Goods, Tax & Non-Tax Revenue, Direct & Indirect Taxes, Progressive and nonProgressive Taxation, Incidence and Effects of Taxation, Public expenditure , Public Debt, Public Budget and Budget Multiplier.

Statistics and Econometrics: Measures of Central tendency & dispersions, Correlation, Sampling methods, Sampling Distribution, Statistical Inferences, Hypothesis testing, Regression Analysis

International Economics: Balance of Payments, Foreign Exchange Markets, Role of International Financial Institutions: BIS, IOSCO, IMF & World Bank.

Financial Markets: Asymmetric Information, Market Model, Market Efficiency, Primary Market, Secondary Market, Commodity Markets, Mutual Funds, Stock Exchanges, Depositories, Clearing Corporations, Credit Rating Agencies, Corporate Debt Market. Phase 02 -Paper 01 Syllabus

 

The phase 02 paper 01 of SEBI Grade A Exam tests an aspirant on their drafting and english writing skills. The paper consists of questions formed on the following topics given below.
