Description
The University Grant Commission conducts NET (National Eligibility Test) in order to determine the eligibility for the position of Junior Research Fellowship & Assistant Professor both in various Indian Universities and colleges.
The NTA (National testing Agency) has been conducting the examination since 2018.
It consists of two papers- Paper 1 and Paper 2 with Multiple Choice Questions.
UGC NET Economics Paper 1 syllabus consists of 10 divesified modules focussing upon teaching and research aptitude, logical and mathematical reasoning and and checks overall knowledge and aptitude of a candidate.

UGC NET
- The National Eligibility Test (NET) is conducted on behalf of University Grants Commission (UGC) for determining the eligibility of Indian nationals for the Eligibility of Assistant Professorship, Junior Research Fellowship or both, for Indian Universities and Colleges.
- Awarding of Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and/ or Eligibility for Assistant Professorship depends on the aggregate performance of the candidate in Paper-I and Paper-II of UGC-NET.
- The candidates qualifying only for Assistant Professorship are not to be considered for the awarding of JRF. Candidates who qualify the eligibility test for Assistant Professorship are governed by the rules and regulations for recruitment of Assistant Professor of the concerned universities/colleges/state governments, as the case may be.
- UGC-NET is conducted twice every year. Due to postponement of December 2020 UGC-NET in view of COVID-19, the schedule of June 2021 UGC-NET has been delayed.
- In order to regularize the UGC-NET examination cycles, the National Testing Agency (NTA), with the concurrence of UGC, has merged both UGC-NET of December 2020 and June 2021 cycles so that they be conducted together in CBT mode.
- The Application process is therefore being reopened for the new applicants to fill in and submit their forms.

UGC NET Eligibility Criteria 2022
UGC NET Exam Educational Qualification Requirement
- You must score at least 55% marks (50% for reserved categories) in Post-Graduation or equivalent from any recognized university.
- The final-year students are also eligible to appear in the exam. But they will be accepted for the award of JRF or professorship after passing the Master’s Degree with minimum qualifying marks.
- If you are a Ph.D. degree holder and the post-graduation exam was completed before September 19, 1991, then you are provided with an additional relaxation of 5% in the minimum marks requirement.
UGC NET EXAM AGE LIMIT
- Assistant Professorship:There is no age limit for UGC NET Assistant Professorship.
- Junior Research Fellowship:The upper age limit is 30 years. The age relaxation will be applicable for reserved categories candidates as per the government of India norms.
UGC NET AGE RELAXATION
Age relaxation is provided to the reserved category candidates as per the Government of India norms to apply for UGC NET JRF:

UGC NET 2022 NATIONALITY
The UGC NET Exam is conducted only for Indian nationals. The aim is to select the best candidates for posts of Assistant professors and Junior Research Fellowships or JRFS among Indian nationals for various Indian universities, colleges, and institutes.
UGC NET APPLICATION CORRECTION 2022
NTA provides the correction facility to every registered candidate individually. The correction window shall open on the official website. Candidates will be able to rectify any mistake that might have occurred during filling up application forms. A specific period of correction facility shall be given. Candidates cannot correct after the last date of the correction facility is over.
Note:
- No candidates shall be allowed to submit the application form after the last date.
- It is advised that candidates keep a printed copy of the filled application form and the payment receipt for future references.
- Any alteration or discrepancy may cause rejection of the application form.
UGC NET 2022 APPLICATION FORM
Following are the complete details candidates need to know regarding the UGC NET 2022 application form:
- The Application form will be released through online mode.
- Candidates will be able to fill the application from the second week ofMarch 2022.
- The details filled by the candidates in the application form should be same as it appears in their 10thmark sheet, any alteration in the details can cause rejection of application form.
- Candidates must fill the application forms as per the given instruction in the information brochure.
- The application form must be filled before the last date of submission as no candidates will be allowed to submit the application form after the prescribed date.
- The last date of submission of application form will be in last week of April 2022.
- Candidates are advised to keep the printout of filled application form and fee receipt for future references.
